Elizabeth House is a residential transitional program for women with children who have experienced homelessness, violence, addiction, and/or poverty. We provide a nurturing, cooperative environment with resources that aid their transition to independence.
The results-oriented program includes individualized case management services, job search development, academic tutoring, mental health counseling, and classes in parenting, communication and time management.
- 90% of our residents successfully transition from Elizabeth House into safe, permanent housing and obtain improved gainful employment.
- We have helped over 500 families since 1991.
- Elizabeth House residents have accomplished incredible goals, including: obtaining certificates or advanced degrees in Substance Abuse Counseling, Licensed Vocational Nursing, and Computer Information Management.
The US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) released its 2013 Annual Homeless Assessment Report 36 percent of America’s chronically homeless reside in California, and of these people 86.6 percent were unsheltered.
For the past few years, we have shared news with you that is encouraging and, somber– that Elizabeth House had experienced another record-breaking year of service. This year is no different; we continue to serve more single mothers and children than ever. It is encouraging to know that in our 25 years since 1991, hundreds of homeless families have benefited from the timely, trauma informed services that we offer at Elizabeth House. Nevertheless, the need is even greater now.
We know that you care passionately about our families, and we need your support to continue to prepare families for lifelong self-sustainability. Your donation to Elizabeth House ensures that we help every mother and child referred and that we never turn away mothers in need.
The year we challenge you to go further in your investment, and let’s once again resolve to focus our time, efforts, and shared values in cultivating stronger, and healthier communities. Please join us in changing lives – with ONE powerful commitment to move our families into independence.
