EMPOWER.

Oakland Elizabeth house offers a residence to women with children who have experienced the poverty of homelessness, violence, and addiction. We support the women and children in their transition to independence by empowering them with the tools to rebuild their lives. We provide housing, education, employment, and health and wellness resources.

Our Impact

Currently 10 mothers and 16 children (ages 6 mos – 9 years) live at Oakland Elizabeth House. 90% of the women were homeless for between 1 ½ and 5 years. All have experienced domestic violence, addiction, or extreme poverty. Coming to Oakland Elizabeth House from various shelters, recovery programs, and their cars; our families arrive with the clothes on their backs and their life belongings in garbage bags.

Oakland Elizabeth House was formed to provide best practices to support the families who come to us for help.

Whether you can volunteer once a week, once a month, or once a year, you can enhance and expand the work of the House in a variety of ways, including tutoring, childcare, cooking, office assistance , grocery shopping, special event planning, and more.
